One of my secrets to food prep success is to keep it simple - which also means that I am often making the same or similar staple foods that can be used to assemble different meals and create some variety. Since I do keep things simple in the kitchen, that means that my grocery list also is usually pretty predictable. If you are looking for ideas on how to get started with food prep, maybe taking a peek at someone else’s (like mine!) grocery list will serve as inspiration. Below are the foods that are on my grocery list every single week.
Another easy strategy that helps me tremendously is to use my grocery store’s app where I can keep a running list from week to week and add (or remove items) and it even tells me what aisle the items are located in the store, whether they are in stock and the current price. This tool is invaluable for planning meals and food prep for my family.
Then, I add any items that I am low on or out of from my stocked pantry list that you can find here, such as rice, beans, spices, sauces, cereals, crackers, tuna and other canned or packaged non-perishables as well as snacks from the hungry teens (and parents, too). Having my grocery shopping down to a science saves me time and money when it comes to food prep. I always know I am going to use most, if not all, of the food that I buy and rarely does anything go to waste. If I can help you craft your ideal grocery list and meal plan, please reach out!
